Great TV = a short foray and you don’t have to go away!

Jon and I are enjoying a great new television series called: This Is Us. You can catch up (and, you must see it in order) with Xfinity on demand at NBC if you have it…or online from Amazon at $2.99 (worth it). See the surprising pilot and the first episode. This Tuesday tune in at 9pm for the third show of the season. You will laugh and cry…all the clichés…the writing, acting and directing are outstanding.

This is the caliber of television I got used to with West Wing (now available on Netflix and really worth watching again…it sustains us during this presidential campaign), NYPD Blue (wish they would bring that back), Thirtysomething (available from the Seattle Public Library on disk and free streaming through Hoopla), Boston Legal and Parenthood.

Let me know what you think – comment in the “leave a reply” box.

A Thing or Three Bonus:

I am forming an adult writing group on Magnolia beginning October 19th, Wednesday’s 10-noon, $10 a session. Through friendship and gentle critique you can find your voice no matter what it is you want to write: memoir, fiction, non-fiction and more. It is being offered through the new arts non-profit Magnolia Art Experience (MAX). Learn more about MAX. Sign up for class here.

My friend Marilynn Sheldon has a show at the Narthex Gallery there. Reception Friday the 14th – 5:30-7:30, please come. I be there. Her work is wonderful!

The Seattle Women’s Art Collective show continues thru December 18th at The Studios downtown. I am exhibiting photos and we have a literary book to which I contributed several short stories on mother/son themes. Over 200 hundred people came to the opening and it is a terrific show. Marilynn Sheldon is also the featured artist there with 7 others from the group.

The book can be ordered online at Amazon and CreateSpace for $10. It makes a wonderful stocking stuffer with memoir, essays, short stories, poetry and more!

  1. Hi Monica,
If you have TV recommendations, then I will follow them. I try hard to avoid commercial TV because they seem to be so insipid.
My favorite channels are 334 (part of the Tacoma PBS station), 108 and 109 and 701 for us in the Seattle Comcast viewing area – commercial free:)

    • Yes, Shane~ not much good on TV these days…and those commercials! But, I am enjoying this series…it has seeming more than the usual commercials unfortunately…but, I am still watching. The writing, directing and acting are so well-done.
Thanks for reading and travel well!
